7/3/2010
Honorable Urban Administration and Development (UAD) Minister Babulal Gaur on Saturday announced to undertake a padyatra (foot march) from village Bamuliya to Bhopal.

Notably, village Bamuliya comes under Sehore district. It is the origination point of river Kolhans — the water body which is the main source of Upper Lake, the lifeline of the State capital.

Attending a daylong workshop at Bamuliya village regarding conservation of the river Kolhans, the Minister informed that a project worth Rs 35 crore has been sanctioned for conservation of river Kolhans.

“Once the project gets completed, I will go on padyatra from Bamuliya to Bhopal,” said the Minister.

Addressing the local villagers on the occasion, Gaur urged them to cooperate in the project by not using hazardous chemicals and not obstructing the course of river.

The workshop was presided over by Sehore MLA Ramesh Saxena. Bhopal Mayor Krishna Gaur, MLA Jitendra Daga, senior officials of Bhopal and Sehore districts also remained present on the occasion.

It was informed that Kolhans River covers a total area of 35 kilometers out of which more than 16 kilometres comes under Sehore district. Around 21 villages with population of around 25,000 are settled on the river bank.

The Minister was of the view that the project in question could not be successful without active participation of the villagers.
