4/3/2010
Honorable Urban Administration and Development (UAD) Minister Babulal Gaur asked the Mayors and chairpersons of different municipal bodies to develop at least one street in their respective towns as a model. He stated that those local bodies doing better in checking stray animals and making town garbage free would get additional money for carrying out developmental works. Shri Gaur was addressing a meeting of Mayors and chairpersons of Bhopal division here on Wednesday. Bhopal Mayor Krishna Gaur, Principal Secretary (PS), UAD Raghav Chandra, Commissioner SN Mishra and a number of chairpersons of Municipalities and Gram Panchayats remained present on the occasion.

Honorable UAD Minister informed that Bhopal is being developed as a model town of the State. Taking a leaf out of the developmental works done here, representatives of the other civic bodies should also attempt the same. Apart from streets, drinking water, developing parks, the issue of water pollution was also discussed at length in the meet. The civic bodies were asked for making immediate efforts for river Narmada from getting polluted. For checking the nullahs draining into the Narmada, the Minister asked the officials to conduct a survey in this regard.

Financially starved civic bodies were asked to develop additional sources of income so that sufficient sum could be pumped in the developmental projects.
